Menus and Toolbars

When you select a menu item or click a toolbar button, you execute a particular Vine command.

Each button’s operation is made clear by an intuitive icon and by a tooltip A short memo that appears when you place the mouse cursor on, for example, a toolbar button for some time., which appear when you hold the mouse cursor over a toolbar button.

Note that when you place the cursor on top of any menu or toolbar item, Vine shows description text in the status area located at the bottom right corner of the Vine desktop.

Vine Main Menu

The main menu is located at the top left corner of the Vine desktop.

  • You can open several Vine windows selecting New Window from the Menu.

  • Use Show settings to customize and configure Vine.

Role Pages

Vine adapts to different user profiles with the help of user role pages designed to match different user types with specific sets of tools and objects All information in Vine is stored in the server database as named objects of different types. Examples: a company, a person, an event, a sales case.. There are several standard user roles in Vine and possibility to create custom roles for new user types.

User roles can be selected by hovering the mouse cursor over the Roles button in the Left toolbar:

All roles include general purpose tools such as database search and news feed tools, calendar tools, lists In lists objects are represented by small icons and object names. Icons help you to recognize object types. Press a keyboard character (a letter or a digit) to jump to the list item that starts from this character. The first matching item will be chosen, counting from the top of the list. of your contacts and tasks, a database integrated phone, profiling and classification tools, role optimized “Today” overview, and many others. In addition to that, all the roles include specific role tools. For example:

  • The Generic role page is available for users who do not need any special roles and it includes only general tools.
  • The Sales role includes tools to manage your customer meetings, review and organize your sales leads and cases, conduct customer surveys, etc.
  • The Marketing role includes tools for each step of a general marketing campaign: tools to mine and analyze database data, tools to build target groups, tools to address target groups with accurately designed messages by email or SMS, and tools to analyze the campaign statistics.
  • The Management role includes tools to oversee all work done and planned for each  and all customer cases, to analyze various aspects of sales results and tendencies in total and for individual sales people or departments; a tool to design and oversee results of customer surveys, etc.

Shortcut Menu

The shortcut menu appears when you right-click selected objects in Vine. It includes commands applicable only to the selected objects.

Using the shortcut menu is the most efficient way to execute a common operation on the chosen object. Just right-click the object and select the necessary command from the menu. Available plug-ins can be found at the bottom of the shortcut menu:

You cannot customize the shortcut menu.

Toolbars

Vine desktop includes the Left and Top toolbars.

Top Toolbar

The Top toolbar combines the most commonly used commands and the search box. Click a toolbar button to execute a particular operation.

Click to go to the previous open page.

Click to go the next open page.

Click to open Today page

Click to open Calendar

Click to open Advanced Find.

Click to open Selection Tool

Click to open Home Map

Click to open the Administrator’s Console (If you have the needed rights)

Click to open Help

Left Toolbar

Most of the Left toolbar buttons activate when you hover the mouse cursor over them:

Hover to open extra menu.

Hover to create new objects

Hover to select a role page. The icon displayed depends on the currently selected user role.

Hover to open the Favorites pane

Hover to open the Tools pane for the current user role.

Click to pin the tools panel. When pinned the Favorites or Tools panes do not hide automatically when you leave them.

Click to unpin the tools panel. You can also hide and automatically unpin the Favorites or Tools panes by clicking the yellow cross icon.
