Opening an Object

To open an object All information in Vine is stored in the server database as named objects of different types. Examples: a company, a person, an event, a sales case., double-click it. The object will be opened in the view area.

Creating an Object

To create a new object, click the corresponding icon on the Toolbar or right-click any object of this type and choose New from the shortcut menu. Enter the data. It is always necessary to give a name to the new object.

Deleting an Object

Right-click the object and select Delete Object from the shortcut menu. Since this operation is irreversible you will be asked to confirm the deletion. After confirmation is received, the object and all its connections Vine objects are linked to each other by connections. Vine shows an object together with links to all objects directly connected to it. will be deleted. The administrator can later restore the object or remove it permanently from the database.

Using Shortcut Menu

You can perform any operation on an object using the shortcut menu:

  1. Click the object to select it. You can click the object in any list In lists objects are represented by small icons and object names. Icons help you to recognize object types. Press a keyboard character (a letter or a digit) to jump to the list item that starts from this character. The first matching item will be chosen, counting from the top of the list..   2. Right-click the object. The shortcut menu will appear. Choose the desired action.

Creating an Object Connection

To connect objects, you can drag one object onto another one. You can do this when creating connections between objects, when adding an object to a folder, when placing an object on a Map, and so on.

Deleting an Object Connection

To delete a connection, right-click a connected object and select Delete Connection(s) from the shortcut menu. This operation does not delete the object itself, only the connection between two objects.

To relieve doubt about whether you are deleting an object or a connection, please remember that you will be always asked for confirmation before deleting an object or a connection.

Duplicating an Object

If you want to create a new object similar to an existing one, it is convenient to use the Duplicate command. To duplicate an object, right-click it and choose Duplicate from the shortcut menu. The corresponding Edit form will appear. It will contain the data of the object being duplicated, thus permitting you to do a few modifications and to save the new object.

Note that the Duplicate command copies only the object's data. It does not copy the object's connections and Editing/Visibility settings.

For example, only the data of the Information pane will be duplicated for a folder. The folder members will be not duplicated to the new copy of the folder.
